“It was one of the first pictures I came across,” she told AD. “It all turned out to be one big lie.” 

The Netherlands must follow other countries’ example and lift the ban on making embryos for scientific research, according to coalition parties VVD and D66. Party chairmen Sophie Hermans (VVD) and Jan Paternotte (D66) submitted a private member’s bill to this effect, Trouw reports. 

Riots broke out at the ADO Den Haag stadium on Sunday evening after the team missed promotion against Excelsior. Supporters pelted the police with bricks and other objects, set off fireworks, and tore signs from the ground. The riot police carried out multiple charges. The police spoke of “substantial” violence in which at least four officers and several bystanders got hurt.

The police are searching Sunday afternoon with a sonar boat in the Rijkerswoerdse Plassen for 41-year-old Martijn van de Laar from Arnhem who may be involved in the death of a woman in the Gelderland capital. Police previously distributed his photo and name, warning that the man could pose a danger to himself and those around him.
